Made by Wiseman - Chris Wiseman Fine Furniture

Handmade to Perfection.png

Chris Wiseman

Welcome.

I am a designer and maker of bespoke, high-end furniture. As a fine woodworker, l hold myself to very high standards and I hope this is evident to you when visiting this site.

I trained alongside the acclaimed furniture makers at Waters & Acland in the beautiful English Lake District. Today they are known and respected world wide for pushing the boundaries of furniture making and passing their wealth of knowledge onto their students. It was there that I came to realise true craftsmanship at its highest level and it has left a lasting impression on me.

I strive to help keep the tradition alive of hand-crafted, quality made fine furniture that will last a lifetime.

I am proud to offer this one-of-a-kind sideboard for sale

This exquisitly crafted piece was awarded the 'Alan Peters Award for Excellence 2016' which is based on the design, use of timber and craftsmanship for new designer makers. The other award was the ‘Best Use of British Timber 2016'

It was exhibited at the Celebration of Craftsmanship in Cheltenham, August 2016.

It was also featured in issue 239 of Furniture & Cabinetmaking magazine (July 2016 edition).

Construction;

Consists of 6 large, piston-fitted drawers along with 2 doors both with an adjustable shelf in each.

Each individual drawer has been perfectly fitted and made with the traditional method of dovetailed joints and solid wood drawer bottoms.

The fine door gap tolerances create an air cushion that stops the doors from slamming shut. A small rare earth magnet then softly pulls the doors closed. Simple yet effective.

The interior is very finely sanded but left untreated. This gives you the aromatic smell of fresh sycamore every time a door or drawer is opened. Part of the beauty of real wood is the look, feel and smell. By treating wood you do lose the natural smell which I believe is important to the character of a piece.

The exterior is finished with Danish Oil, leaving a lustrous shine.
Solid brass hardware is used for the door hinges and shelf supports.

Ever since the exhibition in 2016, it has been very securely stored under wraps and away from sunlight and moisture.

If you are looking for a highly crafted, one-off piece of hardwood furniture with over 300 hours of exceptional attention to detail, then strongly consider this sideboard. Built to last generations, it will certainly be a conversation piece.

Perfectly suited for use in the dining room or even as a dresser in the bedroom.

This is a one-of-one piece and will not be replicated.

Delivery can be arranged but collection is also welcome.
